Our bodies are wonderful natural healers! However, sometimes when we’re wounded, our bodies need extra help (neosporin, stitches, a cast) to get back to normal. The brain is no different! We use EMDR to help facilitate the brain’s natural ability to heal!

  • Heal Faster
  • Trauma-Informed Approach
  • Replace Negative Beliefs with Empowering Beliefs

EMDR Therapy:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the most well-researched psychotherapy treatments for trauma and has been found to be an effective treatment approach for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), sexual and physical abuse, self esteem issues, general anxiety, specific phobias, performance anxiety, grief and loss, panic attacks, and disturbing thoughts or memories.

EMDR Benefits:

EMDR can eliminate intrusive, unwanted memories along with the physical reactions you might experience when you think about a negative memory, such as a lump in your throat, tightness in your chest, or a knot in your stomach.

EMDR can also take away the emotional charge that is connected to your memory so you that when you think about a past event, you no longer feel anger, rage, disgust, guilt, or shame.

EMDR helps you work through the triggers associated with the memory, so when you go through similar experiences again, you don’t feel stuck in flight, fright, freeze.

The memory will become less vivid and can become fuzzy/blurry or feel like it is smaller or far away.

EMDR is best explained through experiencing it yourself!

EMDR Session:

During an EMDR session, the therapist guides the client in concentrating on a troubling memory or emotion while moving the eyes rapidly back and forth (by following the therapist’s fingers) or using buzzers for bilateral stimulation. This rapid eye movement or bilateral stimulation, which occurs naturally during dreaming, seems to speed the client’s movement through the healing process.

You Have Control:

EMDR is very different from hypnosis and relies on you remaining present, grounded, and aware. Although you do not have control over what memories and feelings arise, you are always able to stop, take a break, utilize grounding tools, and process with the therapist throughout an EMDR session.
